Recent Advances in OMICS Technologies
Berlin, different locations
Monthly, every third Thursday: 14 to 18 o`clock (2 to 6 pm)
Organizer:
LEIBNIZ-INSTITUT of Interdisciplinary Studies e.V. (LIFIS) Berlin
in cooperation with and other partners
Program content:
Due to the rapid developments in diagnostic platforms in the direction of comprehensive multiplexity today or in the very near future, laboratory diagnostics will reach a new level that will enable a largely comprehensive picture of the person being examined. Future diagnostic data will to be obtained reliably and in a highly standardised manner using a very small number of analyses carried out on a limited number of diagnostic platforms. This means that a diagnosis can be made more quickly and a personalised therapy can be started earlier if necessary.
The basic idea of this underlying vision is based on a standardised, multiplex-multiparametric examination of all available body fluids, but also of cells, tissues, stool samples or biofilms for comprehensive pathogen identification and simultaneous detection of other pathogenic changes in the genome, transcriptome, epigenome, microbiome and, in parallel, in the proteome/peptidome and metabolome.
After data acquisition, an AI-controlled comparison with special databases takes place immediately, which, after comparison with big data-based reference collectives, allows pathologically altered parameters to be identified in the shortest possible time. This validated information as an overall finding should then, if possible, lead to the proposal of a personalised, optimised therapy for the respective person. Conventional, guideline-based therapy options should be prioritised, but alternative treatment options should also be identified. New forms of therapy such as stem cells, CAR-T cells and genome editing can also be suggested if all personal data is available. All therapy proposals must be based on evidence-based data from large scientifically published studies or cohort analyses based on real data. The future structure of laboratory entities for the rapid creation and evaluation of research and laboratory data is to be discussed in the form of a brain-storming sessions. Lecturers will be representatives from various companies that manufacture diagnostics-relevant reagents, technologies or devices. They will discuss the pros and cons of their platform technologies with other representatives or users of these products. The aim of these symposia is to present the most comprehensive and practical developments currently available in the field of multi-omics. The aim is to identify the platform with the most diverse range of applications and the minimum requirements for this.
After a brief presentation of the overall idea by the symposium organiser and a general introduction lecture, a representative (preferably from the premium partner) will give a plenary presentation on the existing technology development with all its possible applications. In addition to the data technology, methodological and equipment aspects of future laboratory work, spatial and network-related requirements as future laboratory entities will also be addressed. The following speakers will orientate themselves on the plenary lecture and then present their analogue technological developments, with particular emphasis on the advantages, further fields of application and limitations of their own or other platforms.
The aim of these symposia is to identify the current state of the art technology for each OMICS area in research and diagnostics.

In future, all symposia will be digitally recorded and made available online via the LIFIS-EDU platform for all registered participants one week after the event!
Premium Partner Package (500 Euro per workshop):
- Participation of up to 5 representatives of their choice, including the speaker Advertisement
- The Premium Partner is a market leader and may present their current technology on the respective topic in full as state-of-the-art at these workshops (30-60 min) through a speaker nominated by them.
- Includes the installation of a roll-up banner and/or the display of advertising material
Following this:
- Other providers (2-3) or users can then present their pros/cons for alternative technological
applications in short presentations (15 min). - All presentations and topics addressed will be discussed by the audience.
- LIFIS, as scientific backup, would prepare a short summary and general evaluation of the pre-
sented technology with all pros and cons for all meetings, which would be published on the
LIFIS website.
The results of these workshops and the corresponding summaries by LIFIS are considered re-
commendations for the virtual project “Laboratory of the Future”.
