Background
In times of ever shorter innovation cycles, the importance of structured innovation management increases both on the company organizational and engineering level. Questions of the systematic approach to requirements loaded with contradictions also play a central role in the requirements engineering of computer science. In times of great social challenges such as demographic problems, climate change or global migration movements, it is also becoming increasingly important to also take into account overarching social factors.
In this area, in particular, the “Theory of inventive problem solving” (TRIZ) can look back on 70 years of history, which has repeatedly proven its methodological performance, particularly in complex engineering-technical contexts.
The beginnings go to the methodologist G.S. Altshuller back, who developed the classic TRIZ into the 1990s. Offshoots of TRIZ have been formed in various Eastern Bloc countries since the 1960s, with new variants and varying theoretical approaches emerging in the course of adaptation to the respective local conditions. After 1990, offshoots of the TRIZ methodology also gained a foothold beyond the former Iron Curtain and developed further variants there. For over ten years, TRIZ has been used as a method worldwide by both medium-sized companies and large corporations such as Samsung or Ford.
It becomes clear in the debates that many interdisciplinary cross-connections that go far beyond the core area of TRIZ require a more detailed analysis, ranging from the refounding of philosophical approaches in Hegelian tradition to complex contradiction-based modeling questions in the Semantic Web or problem situations in innovation management or integration engineering.
With this focus we want to participate in the processing of this story and also address these overarching aspects in an interdisciplinary context.
